Thursday May 14:

  • Ms. Maria reads books and then does some lessons on Simple Addition.
VIDEO LINK –  1) Harry the Dirty Dog, 2) Take Care, Good Knight
    followed by Simple Addition
Children will need items to use for counting — such as buttons, pennies, paperclips, fruit (clementines, raisins). It can be a mix of items, but you should have a total of 15 items to count. (15 all the same, or 5 buttons and 10 pennies, or 10 paperclips and 5 raisins, etc.).
If you’re using coins among your items, use only one denomination (i.e. only nickels, or only quarters, or only pennies), since we want each item to have the same “value” for addition.
  • Ms. Maria leads students in fun movement and dancing — have space to move if you want to join in!

  • Ms. Maria leads the children preparing another We Make, You Bake! meal.

Video of We Make, You Bake! (5-Ingredient Tomato Tart):
INGREDIENTS:
1. One ready-to-roll-out refrigerated pie crust (make sure it’s not frozen when we start) (NOT the kind already in a pie pan)
2. 4-5 large, ripe tomatoes (we will cut into 1/2”slices as we prepare)
3. Fresh basil leaves (leave on the plant, so children can pull them off)
4. One 8-oz bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
5. Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper to taste

COOKING EQUIPMENT:
A pie or tart pan (9” in diameter) Clean scissors (to cut up the basil leaves)
Non-stick spray
Knife to slice tomatoes
POST SESSION INSTRUCTIONS:
Before baking drizzle 2 tbsp Olive Oil all over
Bake at 400 degrees for 30-40  minutes, until crust is golden brown.  After removing from oven, let set for about 15 minutes.
