Summary of our enrollment process: 

We take applications throughout the year.   For the school year starting September 2022, we have full-day and half-day morning Montessori programs openings available for children born after October 15, 2015 including:

• For ages 5 & 6 years old: our mixed age Montessori Kindergarten program (full-day or half-day morning)
• For ages 30 months to 4 years old: our mixed age Montessori Pre-Primary program (full-day or half-day morning)

To be considered for placement, families visit the school for a tour and submit a paid application (download here).  In January 2022 we offered placement for September 2022 to currently enrolled students, and we are now offering guaranteed placement to new students, roughly in the order we received their application.  We continue to have rolling admissions until our sessions fill at which time we start a wait list.

We offer tours most school days.  Tours are most informative when the classroom is filled with students and teachers, but we can only host one fully vaccinated and masked adult (no children) during the school day. We recommend you come visit when classes are in session.  A personal, private tour during the school day starts at 9:45 a.m. and usually take about 45 minutes, with a generous amount of time in one or two classrooms.

Note, we also offer after-school tours, but if you have childcare available, we still recommend an “adults only” tour after school too.  In our experience, visiting parents get the most from their time when they don’t have to also keep an eye on a toddler.   But, if that’s not convenient for you, we want you to visit and are happy to have your child accompany you for a tour.  After school tours start at 4:15 p.m. and are limited to two adults and two children.

We invite all our 2021-22 school families to participate in The Montessori House International Festival on Saturday, October 16 (rain date Oct 17).

Here are some of the many ways you and your family can participate (remember, the more families, the better):

•  Booths:  School families create “booths” representing countries of their choice.  “Booths” can feature food, games, customs, clothing, and/or interesting facts from cultures around the world.  But don’t let the word “booth” scare you; some of our most popular booths in the past have involved simple presentations, easy activities for the children, or foods from the represented country.  Families can make booths themselves or join with other families.  A booth can reflect yoru family’s heritage, or simply a country or region that interests you.
• Food:  We ask all families who attend to bring an ethnic dish of their choice.  This gives The Montessori House families yet another way to experience the great diversity that makes up our school.
• Other volunteer opportunities:  The day of the Festival, we’ll need help decorating the playground, setting up food tables and chairs, coordinating the food contributions as they arrive, and cleaning up when the festival ends.

What’s next? 

It’s time to start organizing the Festival.  We’ll spend some time on Meet the Teachers Night (Wednesday, Sept 8, 7 p.m.) discussing the Fest, and will have another planning meeting after school (Monday, Sept 13, 3:05 p.m.).  In addition, our families will receive a regular stream of emails with updates and volunteer opportunities.

The Montessori House School in Tenafly, NJ is accepting applications and currently making placements for September 2021 (School Year 2021-22).  

• We’ve updated our half-day options, and added 1 hour of school to our half-day afternoon Pre-Primary Montessori program — now  11:20 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 
• We can offer immediate placement for full-day or half-day afternoon Montessori programs.  Our half-day morning Pre-Primary Montessori program currently has a Wait List.   One option for families interested in our half-day program, you may enroll now for placement in the afternoon program, but continue to wait list for a morning opening.  Families must submit a paid application to join the wait list.
• Rolling Admissions for September: We offer immediate placement to families applying to enroll for School Year 2021-22 (see above).  After we receive your application, we’ll send you an Enrollment Agreement (tuition contract) which we ask you to sign and return with your tuition deposit.   See full 2021-22 tuition details on our application.
• New students start August 30th for a week of Phase-in; the regular school schedule starts September 8th.  In addition to submitting various forms, new students must also meet with our Director before Phase-in starts.

UPDATE Covid-19:  As you may know, after closing in March, 2020, in compliance with Governor Murphy’s order, The Montessori House School reopened for full-time, in-person instruction on June 15, 2020.  Since that time, we’ve been open, in person, on our regular school schedule (including After Care).

Although we don’t know exactly what the future holds (at least in terms of the Covid-19 requirements and restrictions for The Montessori House School), families can continue to look to our school for top-notch, Montessori early childhood education for School Year 2021-22.  We welcome children from ages 2-1/2 years through 6 years.
