Admissions 2021-22 (updated August 23)

Tuesday, January 26th, 2021

The Montessori House School in Tenafly, NJ is accepting applications and currently making placements for September 2021 (School Year 2021-22).

  • We’ve updated our half-day options, and added 1 hour of school to our half-day afternoon Pre-Primary Montessori program — now  11:20 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • We can offer immediate placement for full-day or half-day afternoon Montessori programs.  Our half-day morning Pre-Primary Montessori program currently has a Wait List.   One option for families interested in our half-day program, you may enroll now for placement in the afternoon program, but continue to wait list for a morning opening.  Families must submit a paid application to join the wait list.
  • Rolling Admissions for September: We offer immediate placement to families applying to enroll for School Year 2021-22 (see above).  After we receive your application, we’ll send you an Enrollment Agreement (tuition contract) which we ask you to sign and return with your tuition deposit.   See full 2021-22 tuition details on our application.
  • New students start August 30th for a week of Phase-in; the regular school schedule starts September 8th.  In addition to submitting various forms, new students must also meet with our Director before Phase-in starts.

UPDATE Covid-19:  As you may know, after closing in March, 2020, in compliance with Governor Murphy’s order, The Montessori House School reopened for full-time, in-person instruction on June 15, 2020.  Since that time, we’ve been open, in person, on our regular school schedule (including After Care).

Although we don’t know exactly what the future holds (at least in terms of the Covid-19 requirements and restrictions for The Montessori House School), families can continue to look to our school for top-notch, Montessori early childhood education for School Year 2021-22.  We welcome children from ages 2-1/2 years through 6 years.

We invite interested families to tour The Montessori House School.  We’re not permitted to have visitors during school hours, but we’re still available for tours in August on weekdays or on select weekend mornings.

Please call or text us at 201-816-8343 or email us at admissions@themontessorihouse.com

Summary of our enrollment process:

We take applications throughout the year.  We’re now in a period of rolling admissions for School Year 2021-22 and for 2021 Summer Session.

We have full-day and half-day Montessori programs openings available for children born after October 15, 2013 including:

  • For ages 5 & 6 years old: our mixed age Montessori Kindergarten program (full-day)
  • For ages 30 months to 4 years old: our mixed age Montessori Pre-Primary program (full-day or half-day AM or PM)

To be considered for placement, families submit a paid application (download here) and visit the school for a tour.

You can find our  tuition rates  and summer fees here.   But do come visit, to find out why The Montessori House is so special and a great value!

We offer tours most school days.  Tours are most informative  when the classroom is filled with students and teachers, but that’s not possible under the current Covid restrictions.   Consequently, we prefer to conduct tours when classes are in session.  A personal, private tour  usually take about 45 minutes, with a generous amount of time in one or two classrooms — depending on your child’s age, we will show you the program they would enter initially, but also show you the programs available in future years.

Note, if you have childcare available, you may prefer to schedule a time to visit without your child.  In our experience, visiting parents get the most from their time observing in our classrooms when they don’t have to also keep an eye on a toddler.   But, if that’s not convenient for you, we want you to visit and are happy to have your child accompany you tor a tour.

We generally schedule tours to start between 9:00 and 10:15 in the morning, or around 1:00 in the afternoon.

You may schedule a personal tour by texting/calling us at 201-816-8343.  Or, we’ll contact you: e-mail us at admissions@themontessorihouse.com with your phone number and your child’s birth date, and we’ll reach out to schedule a visit.

We urge families interested in entering September 2021 to act now: schedule a school visit and submit an application .

For more information please contact us text/call us at 201-816-8343.

CLOSED: Thursday, December 17th, due to weather.
